How PMPRO VAT Tax Addon Works
PMPRO VAT Tax Addon adds a new section on the membership payment form titled “VAT for European Union residents”. The customer can select their EU country of residence from a drop-down box or enter their VAT number to avoid the tax.
The VAT number entered is validated using the SOAP service provided through the European Commission [docs].
VAT rates are automatically calculated based on the constant rates defined in the plugin. The rates in our plugin are those currently listed by the European Commission [docs].
EU tax rates will be reduced on July 1, 2020. The adjustment depends on the country you are in and the industry in which your company operates. Read the blog post here that includes more information about the update and code recipes to adjust your site's tax calculations.
